Privacy
Last updated: July 2026
Reading Forge is built for young children, including children with learning differences, so the privacy design is simple and strict: the app collects no data about children, period.
Reading Forge is developed and published by Forge Learning Technologies LLC, in partnership with the Ace Schools nonprofit. This policy covers the family app Reading Forge; the school product Reading Forge Classroom has its own policy at forgelearningtech.com/classroom/privacy.
No accounts for kids
Children never create an account, enter a name that leaves the device, or sign in to anything. Student profiles are created and managed by a teacher or parent and exist only on that iPad or iPhone.
No data collection
- No analytics or tracking SDKs.
- No advertising, ad identifiers, or third-party trackers.
- No progress data sent to any server — mastery records, confusion flags, and time-on-task metrics stay on the device, visible only in the on-device teacher dashboard.
- PDF progress reports are generated on the device and shared only when a teacher or parent explicitly exports them.
Fully offline
Reading Forge works entirely without an internet connection. The app makes no network requests during play.
Voice recordings
The recording booth lets a teacher or parent record their own voice to replace the app's audio. Those recordings are stored on the device only and are never uploaded anywhere.
COPPA
Because Reading Forge collects no personal information from anyone — children or adults — there is nothing to disclose, sell, or delete. This design keeps the app compliant with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) by collecting nothing in the first place.
The beta mailing list
If you join the beta list on this website, we store the email address you provide (securely, with our hosting provider Cloudflare), use it only to send TestFlight invites and occasional progress notes, and delete it on request. This applies to adults who sign up on the website — never to anything inside the app.
Reading Forge Classroom
This policy covers the family app as it ships today: fully offline, collecting nothing. The school product, Reading Forge Classroom, runs over a school's local network and involves teacher sign-in for licensing — it carries its own clearly published policy at forgelearningtech.com/classroom/privacy. In both products, students never sign in and no student data is collected.
